YOUTH CYCLING ACADEMY

We offer a full-year programme consisting of 25 Saturday morning sessions for  U15 children.

2026-2027 REGISTRATION

The BBB Youth Cycling Academy is open to children born between 2012 and 2014 (inclusive).
No need to have special skills: just bring your allroad bike (mountain bike or gravel bike) and your helmet.

A TYPICAL SATURDAY MORNING SESSION

    • Technical skills and bike-handling exercises
    • Guided ride in the Sonian Forest

Those sessions are organised by BBB initiators and educators, certified by Adeps and Wallonie Bruxelles Cycling Federation. We’ll welcome during YCA Sessions cyclists with specific skills, riders from our Elite Team and many other guests.

FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT YCA

  • Certified Helmet: Mandatory and properly fitted to the child’s head size.
  • Gloves: Essential for protecting hands in case of a fall and improving grip.
  • Protective Eyewear (recomended only/corrective glass OK): Clear or tinted glasses to protect eyes from dust, mud, and branches.
  • Suitable Clothing: Breathable jersey, durable shorts or padded bibs, and a packable windproof/waterproof jacket depending on the weather.
  • Appropriate Footwear: Sturdy sneakers with grippy soles or cycling shoes (if using clipless pedals).
  • Gravel or Cross-Country MTB: Correctly sized, equipped with knobby or all-terrain tires inflated to the proper pressure, and fully functional brakes.
  • Water Bottle & Cage (or Hydration Pack): To allow easy hydration while riding.
  • Front & Rear Lights (winter season): Recommended for road connections or low-light conditions.

 

  • Flat Repair Kit: A spare inner tube matching the child’s wheel size, tire levers, and a mini-pump.
  • Snacks: Energy bars, fruit pouches, or dried fruit to keep energy levels up.
  • Emergency Info: ID and Health card and emergency contact details.

While registering on BBB’s website for a YCA membership, you’ll get a leisure licence (WBC Ride+) from Wallonie Bruxelles Cycling Federation. For more information about the licence (insurance and assitance included), please checkout the dedicated page on the Federation website.
Please note we’ll take care of you’re child’s Federation registration.

In case your child would be willing to make a step towards a competition licence, this could be added during the year.

Our outfit is manufactured in Europe (Spain) by Gobik. Your child will get (incl. in the membership package) a cycling jersey and jacket.

It will be possible to order othe kit items during the year on a regular basis (3 to 4 times / year). You’ll get the information through an email when the webshop will be online.
