The by now well-oiled BBB organising committee made it happen again. 4 days of cycling in a beautiful setting, that was what about 60 bikers could expect. And they were not disappointed by the experience. Excellent tracks, sunny (some would say ‘hot’) conditions and plenty of activities people could choose from after the ride, made the stay a memorable one.
Orbey
This time, the meeting point was not in Bussang or Saint-Dié-des Vosges, but in peaceful, quiet and sunny Orbey, which is actually situated in Alsace. Vosges veterans and quite a number of newcomers made the trip to discover a new environment.
The warming-up ride on Friday (mind you, with 30+ degrees, that was no big problem) set the tone for the days to come. The proposed yoga session or massage before dinner was much appreciated, as was the possibility to relax near the swimming pool.
The Main Course
No Grand Ballon, Ballon d’Alsace or Route des Crêtes, the well-known Vosgian hills, this time. Though, riding through an astonishly beautiful landscape uphill to Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg on day two, or, the next day, through small, authentic little villages (and even past a replica of La Tour Eiffel) was certainly not less rewarding. And in the end, all had their dose of altimeters.
All Good Things ...
They come to an end indeed. But not without a final farewell coffee ride for some, or a last taste of climbing in the Vosges for the more adacious.
All went home with a smile, already looking forward to the next BBB trip.
