More than racing: a collective commitment to performance, development and team spirit.
On 15 October, members gathered at Leexi, our new Elite team partner, to discover more about the BBB Cycling Project and the role competition plays in our club.
The evening’s presentation was brilliantly delivered by Félix Benois, one of our three Sports Directors, alongside Maxime Willockx and Brice Dedeurwaerdere. He provided an insight into our competitive ambitions, the different pathways available to riders and the people who make the project possible.

From Elite racing to local competitions and youth development, the project is about much more than results. It brings people together around a shared ambition: helping riders progress, creating opportunities and building a strong cycling community.
And it takes a whole club to make it happen. Our riders need support beyond the start line, and our Sports Directors currently carry a great deal of responsibility. Whether you can offer a few hours, help with a practical task or support the team at selected races, there’s a place for you in the BBB Cycling Project.
MORE THAN JUST ELITE RACING
The BBB Cycling Project brings together different ways to discover and enjoy competitive cycling, from local races and Gran Fondos to high-level amateur racing and youth development.
At the top end, our Elite 2 and U23 team competes at national level, where races can cover around 150 km at an average speed of over 40 km/h. Riders may train around 20 hours a week, cover 18,000 to 28,000 km a year and take part in 30 to 40 races per season, while some also juggle studies or work.
Training should reflect your current level, available time, equipment and personal goals.
Our Elite 2 team is the showcase of the BBB Cycling Project — and a source of inspiration for the wider club. Its ambition and performances demonstrate what dedication, teamwork and continuous improvement can achieve.
But competitive cycling is about more than results. Elite 3 racing offers a more accessible way to discover competition or keep racing with less demanding logistics. Gran Fondos provide another opportunity to set personal goals, challenge yourself and share the experience with friends.
HELPING OUR TEAM PERFORM
A successful race programme requires much more than talented riders. Sports Directors help select the races, build the line-ups, develop strategies and guide the team on the day. They also need support behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly.
We’re looking for people willing to contribute in a range of roles:
- Race support: helping at events and supporting the riders and Sports Directors.
- Mechanics and equipment: helping prepare, maintain and organise bikes and race equipment.
- Logistics: coordinating clothing, bottles, drinks, supplies and transport.
- Team communication: sharing race results, news and stories with our community and partners.
- Administration and finance: helping with budgets, expenses and sponsorship-related tasks.
You don’t need to commit to every race or take on a major responsibility. Some tasks are simple and occasional; others offer the opportunity to become more involved over time.
By strengthening the team around our riders, we can give our Sports Directors more support, improve the race experience and create a more sustainable foundation for the project’s future.
BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION
The BBB Cycling Project also looks ahead. Through our youth development initiatives, including the BBB Young Cycling Academy, we want to give young riders the technical skills, confidence and opportunities they need to discover competitive cycling.
The aim is to create a progressive pathway into racing, while keeping enjoyment, personal development and education in perspective. Not every young rider needs to become a professional: helping each cyclist develop and enjoy the sport is already a success.
BE PART OF BBB CYCLING PROJECT
Whether you’re an experienced cycling enthusiast, a parent, a former racer or simply someone who wants to contribute, there’s room for you in our project.
